Antarctic Conservation Body, CCAMLR, Establishes Protected Areas in the Southern Ocean

The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) met in Hobart, Australia, from 24 October to 4 November for CCAMLR- XXX (2011) meeting. During the two-week meeting, CCAMLR established a framework of marine protected areas in the Southern Ocean, designed to preserve the ecosystem and further conservation goals in the Antarctic ecosystem while also ensuring that the krill fishery will be able to continue sustainable harvesting practices in the region.

Total traceability

Aker BioMarine applies close control over the entire sequence of actions from harvesting of krill in the Southern Ocean to delivery of products to customers. Every product batch can be traced back to the coordinates of the vessel when the harvesting took place.
